Saturday 15 March 2014 saw Midlothian North and Musselburgh members take to the campaign trail with the Deputy Leader of the Scottish Labour Party Anas Sarwar MP and David Hamilton MP for Midlothian.
Starting off in a windy Jarnac Court we spoke to members of the public about a number of different issues; the Midlothian Council Community Alarm charges the Referendum and the anniversary of the Miners Strike.
It was a great turn-out by members, including our newest recruit Robert from Mayfield and a special appearance from Cookie the dog!
Cookie helping deliver our message.
Unfortunately, Cookie was unavailable for the next part of the day, an afternoon door knocking session in Loanhead. But that didn’t detract from a good few hours spent talking to voters about what their thoughts were on the referendum. Again, it was great to see so many members out on the doorstep and we were joined by our colleagues from Midlothian South.
The day ended with a de-brief over a couple drinks and everyone seemed happy and encouraged by our welcomes and reactions in Dalkeith and Loanhead. A great day all round!
The added bonus for me was bumping into Wattie from The Exploited. That just goes to show, you never know who you might meet on the campaign trail.
